The engine cc of a Motorcycle starts from 50cc engine and can be as high as 2000cc. Many countries manufacture motorcycles on a wide scale basis which are least expensive. Motorcycles can be used just for normal use like going to office, shopping or can be used as a sports vehicle in tournaments.
The first motorcycle was built in Germany in 1885 by inventors Gottlieb Diamler and Wilhelm Maybach. However if one counts two wheels with steam propulsion as being a motorcycle then the first one might have been American. Similar type of two wheel vehicle was built in eastern U.S in 1867 by Sylvester Howard Roper of Roxbury, Massachusetts. The first motorcycle available for purchase was the Hildebrand & Wolfmuller. In the early period of motorcycle history, many producers of bicycles adapted their designs to accommodate the new internal combustion engine.
As the engines became more powerful, and designs outgrew the bicycle origins, the number of motorcycle producers increased. Indian was the largest motorcycle manufacturer in the world till First World War producing around 20,000 bikes per year. But by 1920, another company named Harley Davidson was honored as the largest selling motorcycles. They opened their branches and manufacturing unit in around 67 countries.
Another company named Honda was come into existence in 1946. In 1974 Honda manufactured first A-type bicycle engine followed by the 98 cc 2 cycle Dream in 1949. Honda opened their manufacturing unit in America in 1982. As of now Honda motorcycles are most comfortable and powerful bikes available in the market with many different types of bikes available in the market including small scale bikes for commercial and home use and sports bikes with great engine capacities.
